It has been one of the most talked about transfer saga’s here in the Football Transfer Tavern all summer long, and it looks like we finally have some concrete news amidst all of the rumours.
Christian Benteke’s future has been up in the air ever since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, with the Belgian forward’s direct no-nonsense style of play rarely employed by the current Liverpool boss.
Benteke’s time at Liverpool has been largely disappointing, with the once prolific striker failing to find his scoring boots at Anfield having scored just 9 league goals in nearly 30 appearances.
Jurgen Klopp has spoken on the future of his striker on a number of occasions, but has always maintained that he wouldn’t be allowed to leave the club unless an offer matching Liverpool’s valuation of the player came in.
We were never sure what what valuation was, but following some breaking developments this morning – we might now have a better idea of what Liverpool are after.
According to Sky Sources, Crystal Palace have reportedly had a bid that could rise up to £30m rejected by Liverpool, with the club seemingly intent to recoup what they paid for the Belgian striker when they signed him.

The clubs appear close on numbers, given that Benteke joined the club for £32 million – all it could take is a larger fee to be paid up front and Crystal Palace might just get their man.
What do you think Crystal Palace fans? A good deal or an overpriced flop? Liverpool fans – would you have taken £30 million, or do you think Klopp should hold out for more?
