Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not shocked to hear that this striker will be moving on after the Daily Mirror revealed that Rickie Lambert would be going back down south to join Premier League new-boys Bournemouth.
The 33-year-old initially made a name for himself at Southampton, before making his dream move to the club he had supported all his life.
But his £4m move last summer didn’t turn out the way he will have wanted, after struggling to get game time.
And it looks like a return to the south coast is on the cards for the northerner but it will be to the Goldsands Stadium, instead of St Mary’s.
Cherries manager Eddie Howe is keen to acquire as many British players as possible as he is keen to keep his dressing room happy.
And Lambert would fit seamlessly into the system at Bournemouth as they like to play big man behind the pacy Callum Wilson, with Yann Kermorgant and Brett Pittman operating in this position last season.
