Liverpool fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty joyous after hearing from the Liverpool Echo, that Serie A side Sampdoria are readying a bid for Reds forward Mario Balotelli.
Since arriving at Anfield from AC Milan, Balotelli has been a shadow of his old self and has only started a mere eight league games for the Merseyside outfit.
The controversial Italian star has found it hard at Anfield and looks set to be offloaded in this upcoming transfer window, with Sampdoria now leading the chase to sign the striker.
Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has spoken out about the deal, and has said:
“I would take him — he’d be the real Balotelli again here. He wouldn’t have too much pressure here in Genoa.”
“He’s lost his hunger. He’s earning too much. If he was only on bread and water, he’d be a champion again.”
A large group of Liverpool fans over by the dartboard here in the Football Transfer Tavern are deliberating the deal, with many of them agreeing that he is simply not good enough anymore.
A small minority of Reds fans here in the Tavern feel he can still do a job at the club, and feel it would be a shame to see him leave so quickly after joining.
