Once again Liverpool’s Italian misfit has been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, a year after turning down the prospect of a permanent move, with talks between the two clubs having taken place according to the Sunderland Echo.
Borini spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Sunderland, where he helped the club towards a great escape. He managed 10 goals in all competitions and was voted as the club’s young player of the year.
He turned down the prospect of regular first team football last summer in the hope of fighting for his Liverpool place, yet he only managed three Premier League starts and one goal last term.
Brendan Rodgers has told Borini he has no future at Anfield, and the Italian has been training away from the first team squad along with fellow outcasts Mario Balotelli and Jose Enrique.
Our resident Liverpool fans here in the Tavern feel that it is time to let Borini go now, because with Benteke, Ings and Sturrudge – Borini simply will not get a spot in the Liverpool first-team.
