The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been sweating on the fitness of Sadio Mane in recent days…
He suffered what looked to be a painful injury over the weekend, leaving many in the pub fearing that his season could be over.
Now, several days after the incident, the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have finally received some news on the topic, and it is a bit of a mixed bag. According to the Times, Liverpool are fearful that the injury could see him miss the rest of the season – whilst surgery has also not been ruled out.
However, in what will come as a big boost for the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern, the Times are also reporting that Mane is NOT thought to have damaged the ligaments within his knee – meaning that an extended layoff is less likely. Indeed, major damage to the ligaments could have seen Mane miss the best part of a year, with players like Kurt Zouma of Chelsea suffering a similar fate in recent years.
It will certainly be disappointing news for Jurgen Klopp, though, with Mane arguably his most important player. He has been a revelation since moving to Anfield, offering a direct and consistent threat down the flanks at Anfield.
He has scored 13 goals so far this season, alongside 5 assists.
Will Liverpool cope? Have your say..
