Liverpool suffer big blow in pursuit of key summer Klopp target

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting their side to kick on after a stellar campaign last term…

The Reds earned a top-four finish last season, giving them entry into the Champions League next year – leaving the Reds in the Transfer Tavern feeling very excited indeed.

However, there is also an air of anxiety, with many demanding a few major signings ahead of the season to ensure that The Reds will be competing against some of Europe’s best sides. The recent capture of Mo Salah will certainly go a long way in doing so, but supporters are still wanting more.

That being said, one player that doesn’t look likely to be at Anfield next season is Kylian Mbappe, with Jurgen Klopp suffering a blow in his pursuit of the striker. According to Marca, Klopp is desperate to land the Frenchman, with the club even making a £100 million (£87.7 million) offer for his services, but it is noted that the offer has been turned down – with the Frenchman only really interested in a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Of course, with Klopp so keen, this is a huge blow for the German – with Mbappe the sort of player that he would likely have looked to build his team around. Lethal in front of goal, Liverpool have struggled to find a dominant forward over the last couple of years, and Mbappe may have finally solved that problem.

It looks like it’s back to the drawing board for Jurgen Klopp…
