The Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not happy about this…
Coutinho has, undoubtedly, been Liverpool’s best player this season – and so the confirmation that he looks set to be missing until 2017 has left the Reds in the Tavern fearing the worst.
If nothing else, his temporary departure has made it clear just how reliant Jurgen Klopp is on the Brazilian – and his unavailability has left a rather gaping hole in the heart of the Liverpool attack.
It did not come as a surprise, then, when Liverpool were linked with American attacker Christian Pulisic – who has been in sensational form in the Bundesliga as of late.
The Liverpool fans in the Tavern have been touting him as the perfect man to battle with Coutinho for a starting berth – but it would seem that his potential transfer has been shut down before the process could even begin.
According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc insisted that Pulisic will remain at Dortmund despite Liverpool’s interest.
In response to questioning about the proposed deal, he said: “‘It’s not worth the effort for Liverpool” – seemingly immediately shutting the door on any move.
This has come as a huge blow to the Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern, given that many were reliant upon the American joining the club in the new year.
Pulisic has been in fine form so far this season, having already picked up 2 goals and 4 assists in just 6 Bundesliga starts.
