Liverpool fans have looks of concern on their faces here at the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by IBTimes that the club could face an uphill task in their chase for Swansea City’s Ashley Williams.
It seems like almost everyday now that the club are linked to a defender and as we all know, Jamie Carragher is set to leave in the summer meaning that at least one centre half will be required. Former Swans manager Brendan Rodgers of course knows Ashley Williams well and had been more than confident of landing the skipper who has been colossal for the Swans underpinning their success this season.
Now however it seems that not only is the competition from Arsenal going to be a sticking point but also the fact that the asking price of £12 million is set to be another issue. Northern Irishman Rodgers is reluctant to pay so much for the 28-year-old former Stockport County defender, yet Swansea and Michael Laudrup are fully aware of how vital the Wales international is to them and will do everything in their power to prevent a move.
