Liverpool suffer further setback as Klopp reveals some bad injury news

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to go on a bit of a winning run. It has been a very stop-start season for the Reds, and their last few weeks certainly exemplify that. They shocked the world by beating Man City a few weeks ago, only to follow that up with losses against Swansea City and West Brom.

In truth, it’s a pretty bad time to a Red at the moment, and unfortunately for them, even more bad news has been delivered courtesy of Jurgen Klopp. According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp has revealed that Adam Lallana has suffered a setback on his road back to full fitness.

He said: “[The] Medical department told me [there was] no chance for West Brom, no chance for Huddersfield and a chance for Tottenham”.

Lallana, of course, missed Liverpool’s clash with West Brom over the weekend, and it seems that the Huddersfield clash on Tuesday could also come too soon for the Englishman.Klopp appears more optimistic about the clash with Tottenham, but even then, a starting berth looks unlikely.

This will come as another blow for Liverpool and Adam Lallana, a player that has really struggled this season. After a fantastic campaign last year, injuries have been very problematic for Jurgen Klopp and the Englishman this season.

This has come at a particularly bad time for them, too, not only due to the significance of the next few weeks, but also given the recent sale of Coutinho. Lallana was likely expected to take over the mantle from the departing Brazilian, but that process has yet to start given his lack of action.

Landlord’s Verdict

If fit, there is no doubting that Lallana would be a starter at Anfield.

He’s clearly struggling with injury problems and fitness issues, and so Klopp will need to be very careful when he eventually does return. As a result, even if he does return against Spurs, it’s likely to only be in a reduced capacity.

This is the last thing that Liverpool needed.
