The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were in fine spirits this weekend after their side continued their excellent run of form with a 4-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side took another giant step towards qualifying for the Champions League on Saturday afternoon by comfortably seeing off the challenge of the relegation-threatened Hammers on Merseyside. Liverpool’s front-three of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane once again demonstrated their credentials as one of the deadliest attacking trios in Europe by notching a goal each in the second-half to ensure their side of the three points.
The aforementioned trio have understandably stolen the headlines and been widely hailed for their role in catalysing Liverpool’s positive run of form since the turn of the year, but the supporters have been eager to heap praise on a defensive player who has rapidly become an integral member of the first-team in recent months, namely Andrew Robertson (valued at £9 million by Transfermarkt).
Robertson needed to exert plenty of patience early in the season whilst waiting for an opportunity to shine at Liverpool, but since Alberto Moreno picked up an injury at the end of November the Scottish international has taken full advantage of his chance to impress.
The 23-year-old has slotted into the back-four with ease and has consistently been a reliable presence at full-back during the last few months. Robertson’s performances have enabled him to rapidly become a hugely popular figure amongst the supporters, and plenty of The Reds faithful took to Twitter this weekend to heap praise on him for his contribution to Liverpool’s dramatic improvement of late.
Here’s what the supporters have had to say about Robertson on Twitter…
Can we just stop and appreciate what an inspired signing this guy is proving to be?
