Liverpool switch didn’t appeal to French international ace

Lacazette.jpgLiverpool and Newcastle United fans have been left perplexed in the Football Transfer Tavern after a target of both of their clubs admitted he had no intention to leave his current employers this summer.

According to talkSPORT, both Brendan Rodgers and Alan Pardew were left scratching their heads after Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette confirmed that he never considered leaving the Stade Gerland for the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has recently signed a two-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 giants, keeping him with Les Gones until 2018.

But Lacazette has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier league in the past with Liverpool and Newcastle being frontrunners for his signatures.

However despite such interest, no move ever materialised during the summer and the France international says he never thought of leaving Ligue 1.

“I was under contract, so there was never anything there,” said Lacazette.

“There was lots of speculation with regards to a possible transfer, but I wanted to progress in the club where I was made. I had no reasons to leave.”

Liverpool & Newcastle fans. Are you that gutted about Lacazette’s latest admission or are you content with the forward options you already boast? Let us know your thoughts below.
