Liverpool fans are looking fustrated in the Football Transfer Tavern after talkSPORT revealed that their transfer target, Ezequiel Lavezzi, from Paris Saint-Germain would prefer a return move to Napoli.
Brendan Rodgers was hoping to land the pacey winger in January to give the squad a boost and bring more of an attacking threat, but it looks as though they are going to miss out on their target.
Rumours began to circulate in the Tavern as Lavezzi has continued to struggle to establish a regular spot in the first team since his £20m move from Naples in 2012.
The 29-year-old previously spent five seasons with the Italian side, where he made 188 appearances and scored 48 goals.
And a move back to his former club looks a lot more appealing to the Argentine because instead he would be joining a struggling side that is under huge pressure.
Punters feel it is a great shame the Reds are set to miss out on the winger, because he would bring great experience and he has played at big european clubs where he has played under similar circumstances.
