Liverpool fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern have given their full attention to Dallan O’Donell of Sports News Ireland, who claims one of their summer transfer targets is open to a move.
Marcos Rojas has confirmed he is quitting Australian side Melbourne Victory to ply his trade in Europe this forthcoming season, alerting the Reds who have had their eye on the 21-year-old New Zealand intrnational for a while.
It is belived Rojas and his advisors have been contacting top clubs in England and Germany over a possible summer switch, since the A-League Player of The Year decided this would be his last season Down Under.
“It’s every footballer’s dream to play in Europe and I’m over-the-moon to be able to say I’m about to live that dream very soon,” Rojas told AAP.
The youngster is capable of playing anywhere across a front three, and would fit in well with Brendan Rodgers style of football. The Liverpool manager has already spoken of wanting players who are capable of playing different positions, hence signings such as Daniel Sturridge, Fabio Borini and Phillipe Coutinho.
Rojas’ manager Ange Postecoglou spoke of his sadness at the young player leaving. but has no doubts he will prove a success in Europe.
“While we would have loved to have seen him stay here at Melbourne Victory for a little longer, we knew we couldn’t stand in the way of his European ambitions,” he said.
“He’s rightly attracted plenty of attention around the globe for his efforts this year.”
