The good news for Liverpool fans is that Roy Hodgson is at last being linked with a player of real quality; France international Yann M’Vila is one of Europe’s hottest properties, and is the sort of player which the Anfield following would want to see the club competing for in the transfer market.
The bad news: such is M’Vila’s standing that Spanish giants, Real Madrid, have also declared their interest. This is according to reports published today in Spanish newspaper AS, who have also revealed that Real have already been in contact with the player’s agent to register their interest officially.
However, Jose Mourinho has recently affirmed he has no plans to make any new signing in January, and would therefore wait until next summer to bid for the Rennes midfielder. This is good news for Hodgson, who could now be tempted to pre-empt Madrid and make a swoop for M’Vila in January.
However, Rennes will command a high price for their prize asset, and will be unlikely to listen to any offers under £13m.
