Liverpool’s transfer targets have been a hot topic of conversation in the Football Transfer Tavern, and Alicia Johnson of the Daily Star has popped in to give us an update on the future of one of them.
Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan has reportedly told the Spanish club he is ready to quit as he wishes to ply his trade in a different league – news that has put Liverpool on red alert.
They have been linked with the Turkish winger for quite some time, and he has previously been photographed posing in a Liverpool shirt.
Brendan Rodgers is desperate to add more attacking firepower to his team, and a move for the winger would also allow him to let £20 million flop Stewart Downing leave Anfield.
However Turan will not come cheap. The release cause is £19.5 million – a fee the Reds will be unlikely to stump up in January.
But the Turks agent has said he does not expect any movement until the summer window.
“I have wanted to see [Arda] play for another team in another league and Arda also wants to play for another club,” Ahmet Bulut told Turkish media.
“He wants a different experience. We are working now to try and do exactly that.
“Atletico know of our intentions. If successful, Arda will leave Atleti at the end of the season.”
