Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern may not have had a dramatic deadline day but the Daily Mirror revealed how Burnley’s Danny Ings turned down Real Sociedad for the Reds next season.
So maybe this latest news is as positive as a new signing because it will have been devastating if he had opted for a move to work with David Moyes in La Liga.
Not only did he turn down the move but the supposed reason behind the rejection is so he can join Liverpool at the end of the season.
Punters in the tavern appreciate Ings’ loyalty to stick with the Clarets until the end of the season and do his best to try and keep Sean Dyche’s side up.
During the January transfer window, many reported that Liverpool attempted to sign the striker in a £4 million deal where they would loan him back to the Clarets.
But the proposed bid failed as it would have contradicted Premier League rules. So now the plan for Brendan Rodgers is to sign him on Bosman at the end of the season but they face competition from Manchester City.
Liverpool fans. Are you happy to hear the player’s intentions to join the Reds at the end of the season or would he represent an underwhelming addition? Let us know your thoughts at the end of the season.
