Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have had to endure numerous frustrations this season and it seems that will continue in the January market, as Liverpool target one of their first-team members.
Whilst Jurgen Klopp is reluctant to sign a new goalkeeper, content with Belgian Simon Mignolet, the Liverpool supporting contingent in the bar think differently- so they’re delighted by this particular report.
Metro quote reports that suggests Liverpool will swoop for Chelsea stopper Asmir Begovic, reviving interest that they held before the Bosnian left Stoke City for Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old was signed as cover for Thibaut Courtois and has played a wealth of football this season due to the Belgian’s injury absence. However, it’s gone hand-in-hand with a torrid time for the Blues- who have sensationally lost over half of their opening 15 games this season.
A move to Liverpool could see Begovic become a number-one goalkeeping choice once again, as it’s expected he’d replace Mignolet in the Reds line-up- though it’s unlikely Chelsea would sell to a rival, especially seeing Petr Cech’s success at Arsenal.
Liverpool supporters in the bar would love this signing to take place but believe there’s little chance of that happening, suggesting that AC Milan’s Diego Lopez is a more realistic target.
