Liverpool target set for cut price move

weimann.jpgAston Villa fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are shaking their heads at the latest piece of news from Metro who have claimed that Liverpool are set to swoop in for one of their players.

It has been claimed that contract talks between Villa and forward Andreas Weimann have stalled going so badly wrong that the player has even turned down a new contract and is set to look for a new club this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is set to offload Andy Carroll permanently and is not willing to have the forward back at Anfield. He is also facing uncertainty over the future of Luis Suarez and is set to consider other striking options.

The club have been scouting 21-year-old Weimann for some time now and the fact that the player has netted 11 times in 30 matches for a struggling Villa side means a host of Premier League clubs have been taking notice of the Austrian international striker.

Villa are willing to sell the forward who only has a year left on his current deal this summer and are not willing to risk losing him for free should he just walk out at the end of his deal. With only 12 months left on his deal it means that a cut price fee could well be agreed between Liverpool and Aston Villa and it could even be as little as £5 million.

Liverpool do face competition for the forward with Inter Milan and Norwich City also thought to be interested.
