Liverpool team news: Keita and Alexander-Arnold hand Klopp huge boost

Liverpool will look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they host Newcastle United at Anfield on Boxing Day.

Jurgen Klopp witnessed his side take a four-point lead at the top of the division at the weekend when Manchester City were handed a shock defeat.

Liverpool will now welcome Rafa Benitez back to Anfield as he brings his Newcastle side to Merseyside and it appears as though the Reds have been handed a huge boost ahead of the game.

According to the club’s official website, both Naby Keita and Trent Alexander-Arnold made a return to training following knocks and are both in contention of playing on Wednesday.

Keita was forced off early in the victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers, whilst Alexander-Arnold missed that match as well as the one with Manchester United.

The Verdict:

Having both Keita and Alexander-Arnold available will be a huge boost for Liverpool and Klopp as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

It will be pleasing that the midfielder did not have to miss any game-time, whilst having the exciting 20-year-old back available after two matches will be welcomed.

Liverpool will still need to be at their very best to ensure they pick up the three points, however, remaining at the top of the Premier League table will likely be enough motivation to get the win on the day.
