Liverpool will meet Chelsea for the first time in two consecutive meetings on Wednesday night as they look to book their place in the fourth round of the League Cup.
The pair will meet again at the weekend in the Premier League, however, Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he will still field a strong side as they look to progress in the competition.
Klopp has confirmed that Simon Mignolet will start the match at Anfield on Wednesday ahead of Alisson, which will give him his first appearance of the campaign.
However, the German manager has been relatively coy on who else could feature against the Blues when they visit Merseyside.
Virgil van Dijk is one that could be available for Liverpool, although his condition will need to be assessed as he aggravated an injury during their win against former club Southampton at the weekend.
Dominic Solanke could make an appearance against his former club, as he has recovered from a concussion, although the game is likely to have come too quickly for Dejan Lovren.
Adam Lallana and Divock Origi will definitely miss out for Klopp’s side, although they are both not thought to be too far from making a return, unlike Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who remains a long-term absentee.
Klopp is yet to lift a trophy during his time with Liverpool and could view this competition as an ideal way to break that duck.
The German has already revealed that he will field a strong team for the game against Chelsea on Wednesday, although he is likely to have the Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge on his mind.
With Mignolet starting in goal, there will be a few concerns, but the Reds will be hoping he can come through it without any errors and help the Anfield outfit progress to the next round.
