Liverpool will return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Leicester City at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will have the opportunity to extend their lead at the summit to seven points following Manchester City’s surprise 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday.
The Reds have had to deal with a number of injuries in the run-up to the game with The Foxes, however, it appears some good news has started to emerge for the Liverpool boss.
According to a match preview on the club’s official website, Virgil van Dijk made a return to training after a bout of illness and could be in contention to face Leicester.
Fabinho, who had also been suffering with sickness and a knock he picked up against Crystal Palace, made a return whilst Georginio Wijnaldum and Dejan Lovren are also fit and available after knee and hamstring injuries respectively.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the contest with Leicester due to a knee problem, whilst James Milner will serve his suspension following the red card he picked up against Palace.
The news that Van Dijk, Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Lovren are all potentially available for the game will be hugely encouraging for Klopp and Liverpool.
Van Dijk’s return to training will have especially pleased those at Anfield as the defender has been solid for the club since his arrival last January.
Liverpool have the ideal opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table and Klopp will want to see his side seize the moment.
