Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased to see their side making early moves in the transfer market, with suggestions a top player is on-course for a move to Anfield.
German outlet Revier Sport state Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic is set for a move to Liverpool this summer, where he’ll rejoin former manager Jurgen Klopp.
Links speculating Subotic will reunite with Klopp at Anfield have been present ever since the former Dortmund boss took charge of the under-performing Premier League giants and the German is keen to rejuvenate his defensive line during the summer.
The Reds are seeking a top-class goalkeeper to replace Simon Mignolet as number one and want improvements ahead of him, with Joel Matip already in the bar as a free transfer and a number of other defensive targets eyed.
However, Subotic’s experience and history with Klopp make him the favoured addition to the squad and he’d give Liverpool immense depth at the back, competing with Matip, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho for regular first-team football.
Our landlord feels Subotic’s signature is in the bag and doesn’t feel Dortmund will stand in the way of an exit for the Serbian international.
Would Subotic come straight into the first-team at Anfield? Let us know in the comments below!
