Liverpool are the focus of attention today with Mirror Football reporting that the Reds have taken steps to beat Arsenal to classy Lyon playmaker Clement Grenier by offering £12.8 million for his services.
The Lyon midfielder reaches the end of his contract next season and that could see him making the switch to the Premier League during the summer with Arsene Wenger thought to have been watching Grenier for some time. Wenger even admitted that the exciting player reminded him of a young Samir Nasri earlier this week.
However according to sources in France, Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers are now looking to take the lead by making a firm offer although this is currently unconfirmed.
The Anfield outfit have already landed their first signing of the summer in Kolo Toure today and Grenier is the next to join Rodgers revolution at the Merseyside club.
It appears likely that the French club are hoping to create a bidding war between the English rivals and the club president is reported to have slapped a 37 million euro price tag on the 22-year-old to help produce further interest.
