For weeks now everyone in the Football Transfer Tavernn assumed that Liverpool were set to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer with speculation indicating a deal was nearly agreed but today’s Express offers doubt to Reds supporters over any possible transfer even occurring at all.
The publication reports that Liverpool now look poised to miss out on the Armenian international after the player himself took to Facebook to pour cold water on suggestions that he was close to agreeing a summer move to the Premier League.
The post on the popular social networking site read: “I am happy to see that people show keen interest in my career but I would like to ask all not only to refrain from making comments but also to prevent the spread of unverified and false information.
“I am not meddling with these affairs. If have a contract with a club, I just fulfil it.”
The 24-year-old midfielder, who netted 25 times for the Ukrainian giants, could now see out his existing contract with Shakhtar Donetsk despite the reported interest from Anfield.
Liverpool fans. How disappointed would you be to miss out on Mkhitaryan this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
