Liverpool have been nothing but exceptional this season as they look to try and win the Champions League and the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s side appears to be going from strength-to-strength as each campaign goes by and it is surely only a matter of time before they finally get their hands on a major trophy.
However, with everyone in the first-team currently playing to an extremely high standard, it is difficult for some of their fringe men to get a chance on the pitch. And, it seems one of those men will not be at Anfield next season.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Belgian publication DH, Liverpool are prepared to offload Simon Mignolet in the summer.
The goalkeeper was initially kept on the books at Anfield because of doubts about how well Alisson Becker would take to English football, but the Brazilian has shown he has had no issues in adapting.
It is surely only a matter of time before Mignolet actually leaves Liverpool. The goalkeeper has been keen to play regular football for a while now, although his career at Anfield has been long over.
Having been in and out of the first-team last season with Loris Karius, the Belgium international has had to play second fiddle to Alisson for the majority of the current campaign and, as mentioned previously, the Brazilian looks to have taken to life in English football rather well.
Whilst an exit could be good news for Liverpool, it will mean that they will have to try and find an experienced shot-stopper to replace him on the substitutes bench, which may be no easy feat for Klopp and FSG.
However, a departure for the 31-year-old could depend on whether Alisson remains healthy, which if he does, could mean good news all around for those on Merseyside.
Liverpool fans, who would you replace Mignolet with should he depart? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
