Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are moping into their empty pint glasses after hearing reports circulating the bar suggesting that a deal for one of their targets looks likely to fall at the final hurdle.
According to Sky Sports News, Liverpool have failed to reach an agreement for one of their deadline day targets, Alex Teixeira, after a lot of speculation about the Brazillian’s move to Anfield.
Liverpool made an initial bid for Teixeira but after the bid was rejected by Shakhtar, no further advancement has been made on the deal. However, Liverpool will reignite their interest in the summer.
Shakhtar wanted at least £35m for the promising, young forward but although Jurgen Klopp was incredibly keen to bolster his attacking options for the second half of the campaign, Liverpool were not willing to splash the cash.
It is understood that Teixeira is likely to exit Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer but until then, no further deal has been made so the Brazillian will be staying put for now.
