Liverpool to revive ‘paralysed’ swoop with £18m bid

Alberto Moreno

Liverpool supporters have been speculating all weekend about how Brendan Rodgers is likely to splash some of that Luis Suarez money.

The Express reckons he will start by resurrecting a deal for Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno.

Spanish reports suggest that Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre is already in Spain to thrash out the details of an £18 million switch to Anfield.

The Reds had been previously chasing Moreno, only for the deal to go cold, with Sevilla’s sporting director describing negotiations as ‘paralysed’.

But Brendan Rodgers’ side appear to have overcome whatever financial obstacles they were facing following the sale of Suarez and the Reds are now in pole position to sign the highly-rated Spanish international.

Were the 22-year-old to sign, he would become the Reds’ fourth signing of the summer – with Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can having already made the switch to Anfield.

Meanwhile, a deal for Benfica winger Lazar Markovic could be announced any time now with the Benfica winger said to be undergoing a medical ahead of a £20 million move.

Rodgers’ next priority is a left back, having been forced to use emerging talent and natural right back Jon Flanagan there for much of last season, following an injury to Jose Enrique and the poor form of loan signing Aly Cissokho.

Liverpool fans. Is it worth splashing out £18 million on Moreno or would you rather see the cheaper options of Ben Davies or Ryan Bertrand brought in? Let us know your thoughts below.
