The Football Transfer Tavern has a sense of disappointment about it this evening.
This feeling comes after talkSPORT revealed that Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello has ruled out a January loan switch despite reports linking him both Liverpool and Tottenham.
Reports about the 22-year-old’s future emerged after he struggled to gain regular football at Barca under new boss Gerardo Martino, despite penning a new deal with the club in August that keeps him at the Camp Nou until 2018.
The attacker is eager to continue his development with more playing time and that has left both Spurs and Liverpool considering a move for Tello when the transfer window opens next month.
Tello, who was one of Barca’s goal scorers as they stuffed Celtic in this week’s Champions League tie, has now told reportedly told the Catalan press that a move away is out of the question as he is happy with the role he is playing at the Camp Nou.
“I am content at Barcelona but we still have not advanced in the negotiation deal,” he said regarding a potential move.
“It is normal that I desire more minutes in the team. I want to profit on my opportunities this season.
“I do not need to demonstrate anything on the pitch because the coach knows how I am at this club.”
However as the landlord admits, Tello will be desperate to earn a place in the Spain World Cup squad and will need to be playing every week to stand a chance, which could leave a Premier League switch still a possibility.
Liverpool & Spurs fans. Could you have really done with Tello in your ranks? Let us know your thoughts below.
