Liverpool supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are still on a high after it was confirmed that Luis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are flying high at the top of the Premier League and news has now emerged in the tavern that could bring more smiles to Reds’ fans faces.
Today’s Metro suggests that FC Basel star Mohamed Salah will join Liverpool in January after his former team-mate Mohamed Zika confirmed the deal was 99 per cent sure to happen.
Salah has been in outstanding form for the Swiss side this season, and he has caught the eye during their Champions League campaign with some exciting wing play.
He was in fine form during their two victories over Chelsea and that has seen interest from Stamford Bridge while Manchester United were also thought to be monitoring the 21-year-old Egyptian.
However Reds supporters have been excited with suggestions from his close and former team-mate Zika who revealed that the highly-regarded midfielder would make the switch to Anfield instead.
“Yes, I am 99% sure this will happen,’ said Zika when asked about Salah joining Liverpool.
“He makes us and all of Egypt proud. Everybody talks about Mohamed Salah now – and aside from that he’s my friend.
“I’m very happy for him.”
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed last week that he was set to spend in January and with Salah thought to be worth around £15m, he could be only the first arrival in what may prove a significant window for Liverpool as the seek Champions League football again.
