Liverpool transfer hopes suffer another blow, Klopp may have to look elsewhere for a new midfielder

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the next Premier League season…

The Reds have completed a couple of exciting deals so far this summer, notably Mohamed Salah, but given the millions that the clubs around them have spent, there is a lot of work still to be done at Anfield.

However, it seems as though one player that won’t be moving to Liverpool this summer is Naby Keita – with the Guardian reporting that the club have had a £66 million move rejected by RB Leipzig, with the German outfit reiterating that he is not for sale this summer.

The fact that Liverpool’s bid is said to have been £66 million certainly seems to indicate just how desperate the Reds are to land the player, but it looks like their attempts are going to end in disappointment.

Keita would certainly have been a good option for Liverpool, given that he was very impressive in Germany last term. A real anchor in the heart of the midfield, the Guinea-born midfielder had an effect not too dissimilar to N’Golo Kante’s influence at Chelsea last season.

Still, with just a few weeks to go until the Premier League starts, Klopp may have to reassess his options, as improvement in the midfield is very important this summer. Our landlord isn’t sure where else the Reds can turn to, but he is backing Klopp to find a solution.
