Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left frustrated by their clubs inability to lure Blackpool wonderkid Thomas Ince back to Anfield but news today that Brendan Rodgers has launched a shock bid for Inter Milan youngster Philippe Coutinho has left them on tenterhooks.
The promising Brazilian youngster is considered very highly in his home country and in Italy but he has recently fallen out of favour at the San Siro which has led to an audacious £8 million offer for the midfielder, according to The Telegraph.
Brendan Rodgers has grown tired with Blackpool over the chase for Ince and after seeing an offer of around £6 million rejected by the Seasiders, Rodgers now appears to have shifted his attentions to Italy.
Coutinho would definitely fit the bill for Liverpool during the January transfer window and for the sort of young and emerging world talent the owner Fenway Sports Group want to see arriving at the club.
Club chairman Tom Werner is at Anfield for today’s game against Norwich City and spent yesterday in discussion with Rodgers about potential transfer options with Coutinho among the main targets.
