The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with Roberto Firmino this season…
Firmino has shouldered a lot of expectation this season, with the Brazilian typically leading the line for the Reds so far.
Liverpool aren’t exactly blessed with depth up front, and though the Brazilian has typically played in more of a midfield role, he has taken to his new position like a duck to water.
Klopp has, of course, been experimenting with playing him there for quite some time, and it appears as though this year he will be the first choice going forward.
Unsurprisingly, then, given how much Liverpool have invested in him both tactically and financially, they want the Brazilian to stay with the club long-term, and according to Transfer Market Web, they are working to that end.
Transfer Market Web report that Firmino is about to be offered a new contract at Liverpool, with the club clearly keen to ensure that he stays at the club.
A contract offer was being mooted earlier this week by the Liverpool Echo, but this latest report suggests that the decision has gone one step further.
He has scored twice and assisted twice so far this season, so he’s definitely doing a decent job up front, and whilst his goalscoring tally will never match Harry Kane’s, his quality on the ball more than makes up for it.
With Liverpool short of attacking options, it definitely makes sense to secure his long-term future.
This is a deal that will make sense for all parties.
For Liverpool, they’ll want to secure his future whilst also rewarding him for his fine form, whilst Firmino will likely look to use the new contract as extra motivation to kick on after a solid start to the season.
He’s become a favourite of the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
