The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their club can make one final marque signing this summer to enhance their ambitions of mounting a title challenge next season, and recent reports suggest they are planning on doing exactly that.

The Breakdown

The footballing world is watching on with a keen eye as Cristiano Ronaldo lines up a dramatic transfer to Juventus following a magnificent career at Real Madrid spanning 9 seasons. At 33-years-old it's a real testament to the Portugal legend's ability that he is still commanding interest from some of Europe's top clubs, especially considering his arrival could force Paulo Dybala out of the club.

According to a recent report from Italian media outlet TuttomercatoLiverpool are hoping to secure a deal for the Argentine's services in the event that Ronaldo eventually moves to the Old Lady.

Although Juventus will undoubtedly be eager to keep hold of Dybala, the cost of a financially draining deal may force them to at least consider any forthcoming offers which may arrive following Ronaldo's huge transfer.

If that does indeed prove to be the case, Liverpool should do everything in their power to secure a deal for Dybala as his arrival would install a level of quality and belief into the club which was missing at the beginning of the 2017/18 season and restricted them to a top-four battle.

After watching Salah, Firmino and Mane play with such exquisite fluidity last season it's difficult to fathom a situation in which Liverpool could be even more devastating on the counter-attack, but Dybala's presence in the final-third would certainly add another layer of flair to the forward-line which would genuinely frighten Premier League defenders.

With little by way of back-up for Liverpool's first-choice front-three it's easy to understand why Liverpool are interested in signing a player who is versatile enough to slot into a handful of attacking positions and, considering his level of quality, the Reds would be perfectly placed to go head-to-head with Manchester City for the Premier League title if they successfully lure him to Anfield this summer.
