19-year-old wonderkid reportedly on Liverpool’s radar ahead of possible summer move

Liverpool supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side tighten their grip on a top four place in the Premier League courtesy of a routine 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Hammers off the back of thumping Porto 5-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, thus all but sealing their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite competition. And the Reds are well on course to qualify for the competition again next season as goals from Emre Can, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane sealed an easy win at Anfield, thus moving the Merseysiders up to second in the Premier League only for Manchester United to reclaim that position with victory over Chelsea.

Thus, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, and they are likely to be further intrigued by a recent report from Goal, which suggests that 19-year-old wonderkid Houssem Aouar is on their radar ahead of a possible move this summer.

The midfielder currently plays his trade at French giants Lyon with whom he came up through the youth ranks, earning his senior debut for the Ligue 1 club back in February of last year in their win at AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.

And the starlet has since added a further 36 first team appearances for Lyon, bagging six goals and laying on three assists along the way to underline his immense talent and the hugely bright future he has in the game.

And reports suggest that Klopp’s Liverpool are very much keeping an eye on Aouar’s progress ahead of a possible move this summer, although Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona are also thought to be monitoring the 19-year-old.

Thus, it very much remains to be seen whether the Premier League giants can lure him to Anfield during the close season.

Landlord’s verdict: Houssem Aouar has been making huge strides in Ligue 1 with Lyon in the last 12 months or so, to the point that he is being tipped for big things in the future.

And it appears that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool reportedly want the 19-year-old to fulfil his undoubted potential at Anfield, as the Reds eye the sort of signing that can benefit them in both the short term, and indeed the long term.

Barcelona are also thought to be interested, which is likely to give the Merseysiders a few problems, but the future certainly seems bright and exciting at Anfield under Klopp, and as such may be enough to convince Aouar of a move to England rather than Spain.
