According to a recent report from The Sun, Liverpool are interested in a move for midfielder Abdulkadir Omur. The 19-year-old currently plays his football for Turkish outfit Trabzonspor having come up through the ranks at the Super Lig club, with his mightily impressive efforts in recent times seemingly attracting the interest of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

And reports suggest that the Merseyside giants, who currently sit top of the Premier League table, are eyeing up a move for the Turkey Under-21 international, who could reportedly fetch £27 million such is his incredible potential.

And with Liverpool somewhat short of that flair and creative player in the centre of the pitch, the addition of Omur could go some way to solving a key Reds issue for many years to come.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, while the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Georginio Wijnaldum have again embarked on impressive seasons for the Reds, they are all quite defensive-minded central midfield players that don’t always possess that creative spark in the middle of the park.

The arrival of Naby Keita from Red Bull Leipzig was something of a nod to that more flair-type midfielder given his previous exploits in the Bundesliga, although he hasn’t quite hit the heights so far - add in the long-term absentee that is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as Adam Lallana’s recurring injury problems, and the Reds simply don’t have that creative star in the heart of their midfield.

Yet 19-year-old Omur could well be the man to solve that particular conundrum, not only for the present given his recent efforts in his homeland, but also for the future given his very young age.

The attacking midfielder only burst into the Trabzonspor senior ranks at the rear end of the 2016/17 season, although it was last term in which he really proved his worth with three goals and six assists for the Super Lig side, helping them finish fifth in the Turkish top-flight.

And the young sensation is at it again this time round with two goals and four assists in Trabzonspor’s rise to second place in the table, with both of those goals coming in his most recent outing for the club just prior to Christmas.

As such, Omur is slowly but surely developing into a seriously talented attacker and one that has a bright future in the game, and under the stewardship of Klopp, who has improved countless players during his time at Liverpool, he will continue to improve, and perhaps improve into the creative spark the Reds need in the centre of midfield.

Yes, the likelihood of greater first team football at Newcastle could throw a spanner in Liverpool’s pursuit of the 19-year-old, but the chance to move to the Merseyside giants, who appear to be embarking on quite the journey back towards the European elite under Klopp, will surely be too good an opportunity to turn down, were it to arise.

And with the 19-year-old possessing genuine flair in the midfield area, his addition could go some way to solving a key Liverpool issue in that department, not only for the present, but also for many years to come.
