Liverpool have been extremely busy in the transfer window this summer.
Jurgen Klopp finalised a deal for Monaco midfielder Fabinho just days after defeat in the Champions League final against Madrid. He was joined by Naby Keita who officially joined the club after confirming the transfer last summer. Klopp also landed Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke and Alisson Becker from Roma, so these are certainly exciting times at Anfield.
The German will surely now focus on offloading a number of fringe players before Thursday’s deadline. Danny Ings has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, having seen his battle for first-team minutes on Merseyside get even harder. Simon Mignolet and Lazar Markovic could be set to follow him through the exit door as the club look to shift their deadwood. Indeed, the money made from departures could tempt Klopp back into the market for one final signing.
One man he should consider is Benfica playmaker – Andrija Zivkovic. Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old made 21 appearances as Benfica finished second in Liga NOS. He netted three goals and registered four assists for his team-mates.
The Serbian international can be used on either wing but found plenty of success in a central role next season, making him perfect for Klopp’s system at Anfield. Zivkovic averaged 1.8 key passes per game last season (WhoScored), and his arrival could mean even more goals for Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Under Klopp’s tutelage, the forward could become a top player in the Premier League.
