The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still fuming about Dejan Lovren’s late foul on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which allowed Wayne Rooney to bag a late penalty and settle the scores at Anfield yesterday.
Dominic Solanke was handed a rare starting berth against Everton, leading the line in place of Firmino and it’s fair to say the young England man didn’t impress all too much on Twitter. While the former Chelsea youngster is clearly talented, Liverpool fans online weren’t overly delighted with his performance yesterday.
Offering little in the way of holding the ball up for Liverpool’s flying attackers like Firmino does, the punters propping up our bar were fuming with the 20-year-old for his outing. Though he’s a long-term prospect, he didn’t look suited to such a big game at this stage of his career yesterday.
With that in mind, here’s a closer look at what they had to say on Twitter.
Solanke and Ox been passengers in the first half

I like Solanke, I really do. He has the potential, but not yet. I'd rather play Studge. Oh, and Can > Hendo. Period.

Not that Liverpool didn’t have enough chances to win the game but what was Solanke even up to on that pitch? #MOTD2

Should never ever have played Solanke today

I watched Solanke at youth level such a class player but he's really struggled to make the step up
