Having secured entry to the Champions League proper last night, the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely ecstatic.
Indeed, our resident Reds cannot stop dancing and, while this season hasn’t exactly started out as well as they’d hoped, last night’s win over Hoffenheim has delighted our punters.
Still, a report from Yahoo Sport have brought some of them crashing back down to earth.
They claim Anfield star Philippe Coutinho is prepared to try and force through a move to Barcelona by talking to the press. The 25-year-old has been the subject of multiple failed bids from the Blaugrana and is already believed to have handed in a transfer request.
“Coutinho is willing to say that Liverpool is making his life miserable and that he wants to leave,” a source is quoted as saying in the report.
“He has been very patient, but at the end of the day it is his option as a player to leave the club – and he wants to do exactly that.”
With that not working, the Brazil star is reportedly weighing up whether or not to make a public statement in an effort to properly explain his unhappiness at the situation on Merseyside.
Coutinho’s relationship with Jurgen Klopp is said to have deteriorated rapidly and other players at the club are thought to view his exit as an inevitably this summer.
Well, at least there’s been something to shout about…
There’s just no way Liverpool can sell Coutinho now. Having rejected such big money already, there’s no point in caving and the club would not have enough time to replace a player of his quality.
Sorry Phil, but you’ve got to stick it out.
