Balague: Liverpool keen on keeping Anfield outcast despite reported interest

The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot believe their loss last night at the hands of Swansea City. Indeed, just over a week after their amazing victory against Manchester City, the basement side in the Premier League managed to sneak a win over Jurgen Klopp’s men.

For many of our resident Reds, it’s typical Liverpool. Nothing’s ever easy for the Kopites and the punters propping up are eager to take their minds off of things relating to last night in south Wales. With that in mind, comments from Guillem Balague on Twitter have at least provided something different to talk about.

He claims that Anfield outcast Daniel Sturridge has not been the subject of a bid from Sevilla – as has previously been reported – and that those at Liverpool would be happy for him to stay. Though the England international is currently used as a back-up, the fact that the Reds are still battling on three fronts means his current employers want him to stay.

While he’s a divisive figure in our bar, so do most of our punters.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Why wouldn’t Liverpool want him to stay? Though he doesn’t have a natural place alongside the likes of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, few sides can boast a back-up striker quite as talented as Daniel Sturridge.
