2016/17 has been a whirlwind for Ben Woodburn with the striker, who would be turned away at the bar of the Transfer Tavern as he’s just 17-years-old, having risen from youth team prospect to first-teamer at Anfield!
He may not get served here, but he’ll soon be a full international for Wales, with Chris Coleman having named the teenager in his Dragons squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland, capping what has been a staggering few months for the player.

Woodburn impressed Jurgen Klopp in pre-season and was rewarded with his first-team debut in the Premier League on November 26, before becoming the club’s all-time youngest goalscorer with an emphatically taken effort in front of the Kop just three days later in the EFL Cup vs. Leeds at the age of 17-years-and-45-days-old.
Naturally, there is a lot of hype surrounding the teenager and the reaction to his Wales call-up has been plentiful. Our landlord has been on Twitter and has compiled some of the best tweets…

@JamesPearceEcho a ‘Stop him playing for England’ cap. Hasn’t really warranted the cap but should he go on to be a player he’s tied down.

The great responses were not just limited to James Pearce’s tweet, with plenty of others getting in on the act unprompted…
While its a dream come true for Woodburn, he really needs to be looked after, at such a tender age everything can go south in no time. #LFC

Rather than sniping at Woodburn’s progression through Wales’ excellent player pathway, the English media (& FA) should be taking notes!
