Bringing Bailey to Liverpool seems an expensive move by Reds

Bringing Bailey to Liverpool seems an expensive move by Reds

After a heavy summer splurge in the transfer window, Liverpool are now the biggest contenders to take the Premier League title away from Manchester City this season.

This summer, Liverpool broke the world record fee for a goalkeeper when they signed Roma shot-stopper Alisson for £66.9 million to replace Loris Karius.

That move combined with their deals for Fabinho, Naby Keita, and Xherdan Shaqiri, has given the Reds one of the best squads in Europe.

Moreover, after spending a huge £75 million on Virgil Van Dijk in January, Liverpool’s transfer business seems pretty much complete as we enter the final few days of the transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bring a Premier League trophy to Liverpool, and with that in mind, German publication Kicker is reporting that Liverpool aren’t done in the transfer market, and are interested in Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.

The 20-year-old had a breakout season in the Bundesliga last season and has also attracted interest from Chelsea, according to the news outlet.

The Breakdown

In 30 Bundesliga games, Bailey scored nine goals and provided a further six.

Possessing electric pace, the winger would be an excellent addition to any of the top six squad, but with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane on the wings, it remains to be seen how much Liverpool would be prepared to pay for a back-up.

Valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt, a big money move for Bailey seems a bit far-fetched and pretty rash from Klopp, unless his side sell one of their two star attackers, which itself seems highly unlikely to happen.
