Can going: Now Liverpool must seek to replace him with this £16.2m-rated PL ace

Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern are relishing their side’s Champions League final clash with Real Madrid on Saturday, with the Reds going in search of a sixth European title in Kiev this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s men only returned to Europe’s elite this season after a few years in the wilderness, but they have certainly proven their worth in getting past Porto, Manchester City, and Roma in the knockout stages en route to the showpiece. And now they have the chance to land the Champions League title for the first time since 2005 against Zinedine Zidane’s Real, who themselves are seeking a third successive European crown in the Ukrainian capital on Saturday.

And while the attentions of many of our resident Liverpudlians is firmly on this weekend’s huge encounter, some have been discussing the recent reports that midfielder Emre Can, who has been passed fit for Saturday’s game, will indeed join Juventus this summer.

And with the Germany international on his way out of Anfield, the Merseyside giants simply must seek to replace him with Leicester City’s £16.2 million-rated ace Wilfred Ndidi (as per Transfermarkt).

Ultimately, regardless of what some Liverpool fans may think of Can given his desire to leave the club, the 24-year-old has improved drastically as a player since Klopp’s appointment as manager back in 2015, with the midfielder playing a key part in their run to fourth place in the Premier League last season.

And while he hasn’t featured as regularly this term due to injury, the German star has once again proven to be a hugely influential figure in the heart of Klopp’s midfield, and one they are certainly going to miss come the start of the 2018/19 season.

And while Klopp has other midfield options, not least Naby Keita who will join this summer, at his disposal, Can’s seemingly imminent departure would leave a gap in the central midfield ranks – one that could be filled by Leicester’s Ndidi.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a fine stint at the King Power Stadium since his move to the club back in January 2017, with the midfielder going on to feature in all but one of their Premier League matches in the second half of last season, and indeed miss only five this time round as a result of injury and suspension.

Thus, he has become a very integral part of things at Leicester, and it’s his all round midfield quality, not least the ability to break up play and provide protection for the backline, that should be of interest to Klopp.

Ultimately, Nigeria international Ndidi would provide Klopp with an industrious and combative midfielder that he doesn’t really have at Anfield at present, with the 21-year-old making more tackles than anyone in the top-flight this season – it’s no surprise that he started out a centre back.

And having that slightly more defensive-minded midfielder in the middle of the park can only be a good thing for Klopp’s men heading into next season, as he’d arguably offer more in that role than Can currently does – thus, he’ll surely be an upgrade.

As such, with Can seemingly going to Juventus, Liverpool must seek to replace him with Leicester’s Ndidi this summer.
