As you can well imagine, the Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted about the form of Mo Salah. Indeed, our resident Reds can’t believe just how good the summer signing has been since joining.
After bagging a brace against Southampton over the course of the weekend, the Egyptian once again proved his class. Though Liverpool clearly lack a centre-forward in the mould of Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero or Alvaro Morata, it seems they don’t really need on right now.
In fact, speaking on Monday Night Football, Anfield legend Jamie Carragher heaped further praise upon the former Roma man. With Salah already having notched 9 Premier League goals, the Sky Sports pundit predicted he could reach the 25 mark, not a return seen at Anfield since the departure of Luis Suarez in 2014.
“Liverpool have got Firmino, but if Salah is getting the goals it doesn’t matter where he’s playing”, said Carragher.
”If he is going to get 25 goals this season – which he looks on course to get – it’s not a problem what position you get them in.”
Salah is exactly the kind of player Liverpool have been crying out for since Suarez’s departure. He can score any type of goal and break down tough opposition, giving Jurgen Klopp a truly palpable goal threat for the first time since his arrival.
