Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are fairly pleased with how their summer business has gone so far though they are hoping for a few more acquisitions.
The men from Anfield have signed Mo Salah, Andrew Robertson and Dom Solanke so far in this window but many Reds would like to see a few more names come in to strengthen their squad.
Who arrives, though, remains to be seen and though many would like Virgil van Dijk to sign, it looks as though his current club Southampton is going to move to try and reconcile with him.
Indeed, that is according to The Telegraph who think that the plan is to try and get the Dutchman back training with the rest of the squad – something he is not doing at the moment.
This, of course, all stems from Liverpool’s botched attempt at signing him – leading to Southampton reporting the Reds – but it has seemed as though the player still wants to leave.
The Saints, though, haven’t given up on him playing for them this year it seems, and so the Reds might just have to put up with another transfer blow.
Truth be known, it is still quite hard to believe that van Dijk is going to be a Southampton player at the end of this window.
If he is, of course, Southampton would have pulled off one of the deals of the summer but it does seem as though he still wants a move away and this attempt at getting him back training could just be a way of ending things on good terms.
