Depth needed: Liverpool should target £13.5m-rated attacker to offer Salah serious competition

The Liverpool fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are quickly forgetting about their Champions League final loss thanks to their inspired signings already this summer, with midfield duo Fabinho and Naby Keita first to walk through the doors.

Liverpool’s front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino is one of the standout reasons as to why they performed so well last season. They equally combined for a number of important goals, which consequently led them to the Champions League final but Real Madrid proved too strong as they lost 3-1.

Although they were the most dynamic attackers in the Premier League, that same statement may not be true next season. That is why our punters are eager to say that Barcelona’s Paco Alcacer, who is valued at £13.5 million by Transfer Markt, would be a good rotational player to bring in to the club.

The Spaniard understandably finds game-time hard to come by at Barcelona but in his 23 appearances this season, (of which 11 of those games he actually started) Alcacer bagged an impressive 7 goals and 4 assists for his team. At 24-years-old, Alcacer still has a number of years ahead of him to prove that he shouldn’t just be a backup attacker – but the main man even for a team as good as Liverpool.

The Reds will be familiar with their Spanish strikers, considering the incredible success of Fernando Torres. Of course, it would be considered a risky move but what Alcacer has shown in the little time he’s been on the pitch is that he can finish and create chances for his team-mates as well.

Salah and co can’t be expected to do it all alone, and signing someone like Alcacer makes perfect sense.
