As you can imagine, the Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted following last night’s amazing 7-0 thumping of Spartak Moscow. Indeed, our resident Reds couldn’t believe just how good Jurgen Klopp’s men were.
At the heart of everything great last night was Philippe Coutinho, who bagged a stunning hat-trick against the Russians, reminding everyone on Merseyside exactly why they love him so very much.
So, of course Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo used the Brazilian’s brilliance last night to further claims that he still dreams of playing for Barcelona. The Blaugrana made multiple bids for the 25-year-old over the course of the summer, all of which were rejected, though interest from the Camp Nou has never subsided in the media.
Within their piece about Coutinho’s rather awkward exchange with Jamie Carragher, the outlet claim that ‘everything indicates’ a conclusion to the transfer saga is ‘getting closer’ and that it’s ‘only a matter of time before’ a move to Spain happens for the former Inter Milan man.
Coutinho will probably end up at Barcelona. He’s simply too good for the La Liga giants to give up on him and, after the departure of Neymar, there remains a space for him there. However, Liverpool should do all they can to keep a hold of him in January, letting his stock rise even further by playing in this wonderful attacking team.
