Expert’s Barcelona hint could prove promising for Liverpool fans amid transfer saga

It’s fair to say that the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern could do with some cheering up.

Indeed, it seems Southampton are refusing to budge on Virgil van Dijk and, after missing out on Naby Keita, the fact that star man Philippe Coutinho continues to be linked away only adds to the Merseyside misery.

The brilliant Brazilian samba star is understood to have been the subject of two snubbed bids from Barcelona, though has previously been reported to fancy a move over to the Camp Nou. So, it’s not been the best window for the Reds.

Well, Guillem Balauge has provided some interesting updates on Twitter. The La Liga expert revealed Liverpool rejected the second offer from Barca within 15 minutes AND hinted the Spanish giants may be looking elsewhere.

Though the Blaugrana reportedly admit they could return, Balague claims they are weighing up options, much to the delight of our local Kopites.

Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele is another to be touted as a potential target in Catalonia and Liverpool seem to be adamant they won’t be selling the 25-year-old playmaker.

Having seen what Luis Suarez’s departure did to the club, our local Liverpool lot are desperate to keep the former Inter Milan youngster.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Keeping Barcelona away from Coutinho in the long run may be an unrealistic notion at Anfield, though pricing them out of a move this summer is a realisitc possibility.

If the Reds really are going to challenge for honours under Jurgen Klopp, Coutinho’s presence on Merseyside is surely crucial to that.
