Liverpool fans will be glad to see their new signings look great in the 4-0 win over West Ham.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane (2) and Daniel Sturridge handed Jurgen Klopp a comfortable win in their Premier League opener. The German handed Premier League debuts to Alisson Becker and Naby Keita with the latter impressing in the centre of midfield. He opted to leave £40m recruit, Fabinho, as an unused substitute.

The Brazilian was signed just days after Liverpool lost the Champions League final against Real Madrid. The arrival of another world-class midfielder had Reds fan salivating, but the 24-year-old struggled in pre-season. Naturally, moving to a new country and club was always going to be difficult, and the player himself admitted it would take time for him to adjust.

He missed the game against West Ham, but Fabinho will play a huge role if Liverpool are to be successful next year. His defensive statistics were incredible last season, averaging 3.4 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game in Ligue 1 (WhoScored). Playing in front of Alisson and Virgil van Dijk will give Liverpool’s attackers an excellent platform to build on.

Once he is settled in on Merseyside, Fabinho will likely take his place in the starting eleven ahead of Jordan Henderson. The Brazilian is better suited to the number six role and provides more protection than the current skipper.

Liverpool fans will have to wait to see his best performances. Once they arrive, the Anfield faithful will be glad they did.
