Liverpool remain level on points with Manchester City after defeating Cardiff City at Anfield.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri ensured Liverpool’s unbeaten run in the Premier League continued. Jurgen Klopp used the game against the Bluebirds to rest a number of key players with Alberto Moreno starting ahead of Andrew Robertson who was rested. The Spaniard has less than one year remaining on his contract and is widely expected to leave the club either in January or on a free.

If Moreno does leave the club, Liverpool would be short of options at left-back. Klopp has placed his faith in youngster Adam Lewis making the step up to the first-team, but the youngster is yet to be tested at the highest level. Klopp should be keeping tabs on potential Moreno replacements to give Robertson some much-needed competition.

One man he should keep on his shortlist is Lille full-back – Fode Ballo-Toure. Valued at £3.15m by Transfermarkt, the left-back is a graduate of Paris St Germain’s youth academy but failed to break into the first-team later joining Lille. The defender was a crucial player for the side last year and has made an excellent start to the new Ligue 1 campaign.

The 21-year-old is a fantastic defender – averaging an incredible 2.2 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game so far this season. While Moreno has earnt a reputation for his awful defending – Reds fans wouldn’t have to worry about the Frenchman. The France youth international possesses an excellent engine that helps him get up and down the left flank (WhoScored).

Still developing and improving – the youngster could shine under Klopp’s tutelage.
