Forget Coutinho: 2 reasons why potentially long-term Liverpool deal is huge for Klopp and FSG

Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping not to see the back of any more of their star players this transfer window. Indeed, it’s not something they like watching, having seen the likes of Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Raheem Sterling and Xabi Alonso leave in the past. 

Now, following the departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, FSG will be looking to secure their best players to long-term deals as soon as possible. Indeed, they are reportedly looking to act fast with their number nine Roberto Firmino, who looks to benefit immensely from the Coutinho windfall.

Our regulars believe that if Klopp can secure many of his top players down for as long as he’s contracted to stay at the club, there’s a real sense that this team could evolve together.

With Firmino’s goal haul of 16 this season only second to the very impressive Mo Salah, Klopp has a player that has gradually improved while at the Anfield outfit. However, our landlord thinks that by offering the Brazilian a new deal, it will be huge for the club for these two reasons…
